about our program
First and foremost, the main priority for North Star soccer and North Star High School sports in general is academics. We take pride in making sure our students reach their full potential in the classroom while experiencing a safe, fun, and competitive soccer environment. There are three core values that our coaches believe in: unity, integrity, and hard work. Although we have three soccer teams (Reserve, Junior Varsity, Varsity) we relish on the concept of unity, which is to create a culture where North Star is a unified front. In other words, it doesn't matter whether you are a senior on varsity or a freshman on reserve, we will unite and respect each other as one.
Integrity is essential with our program because, as coaches, we serve as positive role models to our young student-athletes. We believe that to be a strong moral person one must do things the right way even when no one else is watching. Further, hard work takes commitment and dedication. We believe that in order to beat the best we have to work harder than anyone other team in the state.
Finally, there are three important values that we believe make-up a strong student-athlete. At North Star, we look for positive attitude, hard work, and purpose. Some questions we ask our players, or things we look for include: How does a student-athlete respond to adversity? What kind of work are you doing during the off-season? Why are you playing soccer? What are your individual/team goals?
